St. Padre Pio (1887-1968) was a Capuchin friar who bore the stigmata for 50 years. Known for his piety, charity, and gift of healing, he spent most of his priesthood in San Giovanni Rotondo, Italy. He founded the Home for Relief of Suffering, a hospital dedicated to those in need.
